UPRM-Mayagüez Material Advantage Student ChapterUnder the umbrella of PREM, the first materials-related student chapter has been officially created. Originally it was named the Mayagüez ASM/TMS Joint Student Chapter. However, an agreement between: the American Society for Materials (ASM), the Minerals, Metals and Materials Society (TMS), and the American Ceramics Society (ACerS) created a new form of student organization: the Material Advantage. Officers of the Chapter (2005-2006)President: Ruth Hidalgo, UPRM Mechanical Engineering junior and PREM participant. Vice President: Luvina Reyes Russi, UPRM Mechanical Engineering MS Student and PREM participant. Treasurer: Vacant Secretary: Sandra Rocío Pedraza, UPRM Mechanical Engineering MS Student and PREM participant. Prof. O. M. Suárez is the mentoring faculty of the chapter.
February 2nd: Demonstrations during District Science Fair.

Calderón Arteaga, UPRM Civil Engineering PhD student. Prof. O. M. Suárez is the mentoring faculty of the chapter. Two UPRM Chapter officers, Ely Colón and Ruth Hidalgo, participated in September 2004 in the Student Chapter Development Conference (SCDC) held at the 2004 Materials Science & Technology Conference (MS&T) in New Orleans.
