UPRM PREM High School Students Win Most Prizes in Science FairOn February 7, 2006 the Mayagüez School District held its annual Science Fair in the Esteban Rosado Baez Public Middle School. PREM’s four high school students presented their materials science research projects in Science Fair Competition. All four students were awarded top prizes in the different categories of this competition and were selected to participate in the Re-gional Science Fair to be held in Aguadilla, PR in March. In addition, those students belong to the two Materials Science Clubs established late last year in each public school. In particular, Coralys Ruiz and Nayomi Plaza are the President and VicePresident, respectively, of the E. M. de Hostos School Club. PREM’s Office of Outreach and Education led by Prof. Jeannette Santos pro-vided initial support to both clubs, which are mentored by Ms. Marisol Colón and Reina Torres, both participants in PREM’s 2005 Teachers’ Summer Activities program.
